With over 17 years experience in the veterinary medical field, Lana knows the risks associated with anesthesia. For many of her patients, anesthesia is not an option due to medical conditions. That was how Chewie’s Smile was created. Non-Anesthetic dentals offer a safe and effective alternative to standard anesthetic cleanings, which help pets live longer and happier lives without additional risks.

For smaller dogs or cats, they will be wrapped gently in a towel to ensure minimal movement. Next, after examination, if Lana feels that your pet needs veterinarian care, she will refer you to your veterinarian for further handling. Anesthesia-free cleaning is similar to the type of cleaning done in a veterinarian’s office. Although this process is more elaborate, it presents a lesser risk and friendlier approach for your pet. Lana’s gentle handling techniques allow her to clean, scale, polish and flush both above and below the gum line. Ultrasonic scaling is included with each visit.

It is highly recommended to visit your veterinarian for dental exams, cleanings and x-rays. These steps are crucial to ensure the overall dental health of your pet. One common problem that cats and dogs face is having bacteria in the mouth. Hence, keeping your pet’s teeth clean will help to promote healthy eyes, sinuses, skin and internal organs too.

Based on your Veterinarians recommendation, schedule regular check-ups – either on a monthly, three months, six months or yearly basis. Lana makes it a priority to educate pet owners on supplements, support and oral care suitable for your pets.

At Chewie’s Smile, we strive to make your pet’s dental care experience a positive one, each and every time. We understand that each pet reacts differently to dental care and will work with your pet’s individual personality to make them as comfortable as possible.
